The buffalo soldiers
were primarily stationed,
or positioned,
throughout the Midwest
and Southwestern United States.
In addition
to fighting battles
with Native Americans,
they were responsible
for accompanying settlers,
cattle herds,
and railroad crews
on their journeys west.
