Despite racism and discrimination,

          this group of soldiers

             did its job bravely

                 and with honor.

     After the Civil War,

           the Army

               was reorganized

       and former

          "all-white" policies

                were amended.

     Two cavalry

         and four infantry units

              of African American soldiers

           were established

                 by the government.
